How to Add Multiple Accounts to Reddit

It’s not uncommon for people who use Reddit to have more than one account. Using multiple Reddit accounts allows you to keep your browsing activity and interactions separate from your primary account.

You may have seen the term “throwaway account” while browsing Reddit. This is a form of using an alternate Reddit account to post anonymously, but this type of account is generally only used once or twice.

You can use multiple Reddit accounts by simply logging in and out of them, but then you’re juggling usernames and passwords. A better way is to add them to Reddit so you can switch between them on the fly.

Why Add Multiple Accounts to Reddit?

The most common reason you might add multiple accounts to Reddit is so that you can easily switch between them without logging in and out of them.

Some Redditors will use an alternate account to interact with subreddits they don’t want associated with their primary account. While Reddit actually supports Anonymous Browsing, you can’t reply, post, upvote, or downvote with it.

How to Add Multiple Accounts to the Reddit Mobile App

Account switching is built into the Reddit mobile app, so all you need to do is add your accounts. Below, we’ll show you how to add multiple accounts and switch between them in the Reddit mobile app on your Android or iPhone:

Open the Reddit mobile app and sign into your main account.
Tap your Avatar in the upper right corner of your screen and then tap your username under your custom Snoo.
In the menu that appears, tap Add account at the bottom.
On the following screen, sign into your alternate Reddit account and it will be added to the Reddit mobile app.
To switch between accounts, return to the Accounts menu shown in step three and tap the username of the account you wish to switch to. The account you’re currently using will have a blue checkmark to the right of it
Repeat these steps for each account you wish to add.

How to Add Multiple Accounts to Reddit on PC

Unfortunately, Reddit does not officially support account switching through their website on PC yet. You can, however, add this ability to the Reddit website using the Reddit Enhancement Suite (RES) browser extension.

Download and install the Reddit Enhancement Suite (RES) browser extension for Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or any other browser listed on their website.
Navigate to reddit.com in the browser you installed the plugin for. You may need to activate it first for some browsers.
Click the Snoo icon in the upper right corner of the page and select Add account.
In the Accounts section of the RES settings page that appears, click the Add account button.
Type your alternate account’s username and password into the respective fields. Tap the Toggle icon below Requires OTP if this account uses two factor authentication. You can also leave the password field blank if you want RES to prompt you for it each time you switch to this account.
You need to add at least two accounts for the account switcher to work properly, so don’t forget to add your primary account too (even if you’re already signed into it).
Click save options in the upper right corner of the RES settings page and then click the X to the right of it to exit.
Refresh the page.
To switch between accounts, click the Snoo icon in the upper right corner of the page and select the account you want to switch to.
Repeat these steps for each account you wish to add.
